Development Scenarios

Trails & Open Space

The natural topography and landscape of Woodhaven create an ideal environment for a comprehensive trail and open space system. This system is designed to connect neighborhood villages, create consistent neighborhood character, and provide recreation opportunities for all ages and abilities.

The plan utilizes development constraints such as the existing utility easement and steep slopes. Topography constraints create opportunities for playgrounds and ball fields, as well as natural green spaces. The centrally- located, existing utility easement is transformed in to a trail and recreation corridor that allows convenient connections between the residential areas and the trail system.

Trails & Open Space

In this plan, arterial roads become important components of the trail and open space system. Boca Raton Boulevard serves as a central backbone to the system with ample sidewalks and bicycle lanes, street trees, and pocket parks. Randol Mill Road provides linkages between the utility easement and the Trinity River, and should be designed with similar pedestrian and bicycle friendly amenities. Other arterial roads that connect existing commercial and residential areas, such as Bridgewood Drive, Woodhaven Drive, and Oakland Hills Drive, should accommodate pedestrians and bicycles as much as possible.
