Community Input
Community Workshop

An integral element of the collaborative planning process was the input and feedback received from community stakeholders and the steering committee. Since October 2004, Gideon Toal conducted numerous workshops and briefings with a diverse group of stakeholders including:
- Woodhaven Neighborhood Association
- Woodhaven Community Development Corporation
- Apartment managers and owners
- Retail and commercial property owners
- Senior living facility owners
- Private developers
- Neighborhood patrol officers
- Code enforcement officers
- Woodhaven Residents
The ideas and feedback received during the first community workshop in December 2004 became the guiding principles for the redevelopment plan, and are discussed in more detail in "Planning Concepts." Two additional workshops in February and March 2005 offered opportunities for community input on more detailed design scenarios and plans. During the final community workshop in April 2005, stakeholder groups overwhelmingly expressed support of the proposed redevelopment plan. An important communication tool utilized throughout the planning process was the Woodhaven Redevelopment Plan website - www.woodhavenstudy.org. Complete notes from the community workshop and steering committee meetings are located on the website.
